Uganda Cranes duo of goalkeeper Robert Odongkara and midfielder Yassar Mugerwa are part of St George contingent to Congo for the first leg of the CAF Champions League tie against AC Leopards.
Odongkara and Mugerwa made the cut to be among the 18 players selected after the hard fought 3-2 victory against Dedebit in the domestic league.
Tried and tested center forward Adane Girma leads the cast of players to Dolisies city via the capital, Brazzaville.
Record 5 time goalie of the year in the Ethiopia Premier League, Odongkara disclosed to Kawowo Sports that they have prepared well and ready for the task at hand – to make the group stage of the CAF Champions league.
Each of my teammates knows exactly what is taking us to Congo.
It is one game that means a whole lot to us. Football is a collective effort. I can not say, i will play alone but with the entire team.
The match will be played on Sunday at the Stade Denis Sassou Nguesou with the return leg coming up for Addis-Ababa stadium in a week’s time.
The winner over the two legs on aggregate will progress to the lucrative CAF Champions league group stages.
