Jorge Miguel Costa Duarte, the new Vipers Coach has called upon fans to come in big numbers when the team takes on Platinum Stars at their new venue, St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende.

The 37-year-old Portuguese who will be in charge of his maiden game says he wants to see a big crowd to push the boys in a crucial game.

“I want the stadium to be full,” he said. “I want the fans in big numbers to cheer us,” he added.

I remain optimistic they will see a great game and I hope they also see a great performance from the team.

With assistance from Richard Wasswa and Edward Golola, Miguel has been in charge of two training sessions so far but he has been impressed with the level of response from everyone around the club.

What I see is this team can beat everyone. But there are some issues in their game though we are here to try to correct them. What we want is to continue working and am impressed the boys are working hard, trying to learn very fast and probably, we shall have a nice weekend against Platinum Stars.

At his unveiling on Tuesday, Lawrence Mulindwa, the club boss said the new coach will start immediately and will be the man in charge of the CAF Confederation Cup tie.

On whether he will be in charge as regards team selection, he remained secretive.

That’s inside staff things. There are things you must not know and this is one of them.

Miguel follows in the footsteps of European coaches to have worked in the Uganda Premier League – Geoff Hudson (SC Villa), Eddie May (Express), Jan Fray (KCCA), Marian Dorin (Nalubaale), Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic (SC Villa) and Ivan Zoric (SCVU) among others.
