A contingent of 31 Platinum Stars players and officials arrived at Entebbe International Airport on Friday evening aboard South Africa Airlines on flight SA 162.
The group touched down at the lake side airport at 7:10 p.m and they were warmly ushered in by the FUFA Protocol official, Boniface Oryema, Vipers chairman George William Mulindwa, finance manager Vincent Sajjabi as well as officials from the South African embassy based in Uganda.
Upon arrival, head coach Calvin Johnson sounded a determined gentleman.
He echoed his charges’ readiness to stage a great fight throughout the 90 minutes and was not concerned about the state of the St Mary’s stadium neither the crowd.
The conditions will not be much of a concern for us. The weather is perfect, we hope it stays the same.
As long as my players are okay, I am happy.
St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende will host the first international match on Saturday after close to 10 months of renovation.
The Dikwena contingent were driven in the St Mary’s S.S school bus and checked in at the lavish Sheraton Kampala Hotel where they spent the night.
They are expected to depart the country on Sunday morning in time for the preparation of the Nedbank last 32 match against Amazulu FC next week.
