BUL 2-0 Bright Stars

A well taken brace from forward Robert Achema gave Bul a comfortable 2-0 win over Bright Stars at the Kakindu stadium in Jinja on Tuesday before a partisan crowd.
Introduced in the dying minutes of the first half for an injured Villa Oromochan, Achema who had also scored as a substitute against Police won and converted a penalty before wrapping up the business with 20 minutes to play.
Bul had shown the urge and impetus to seek for the goals as early as the third minute when Oromochan brushed high a Yunus Sibira delivery from the right.
Two minutes to the half hour mark, the visiting team goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato parried out a ball for a corner after an attempt from the largely impressive David Bagoole.
A minute later, the visitors missed taking the lead when a totally unmarked striker Fred Ssegujja headed wide a Yubu Bogere telling cross from the right.
In the 31st minute, BUL midfielder Patrick Sembuya, on loan from Vipers tested Ssebwato from distance as the shot stopper directed the ball out for a corner with a brilliant finger-tip save for a corner.
From the save, it required medical staff to address the goalkeeper following an awkward fall but he was up and running moments later.
Come the 40th minute, Bagoole missed from about 20 yards as he curled high and over of Ssebwato’s bar.
The home team was forced with a first half change deep in added minutes of extra time when Oromochan limped out following an open boot tackle.
In came, Achema before referee Ali Kaddu called for the mandatory half time recess.
As the second half started, Bul acting head coach Peter Onen introduced the tried and tested Yudah Mugalu for Fred Agandu who looked a lost and misplaced property when he played in central midfield than his usual right back role.
The defining moment of the game arrived in the 50th minute. Defender Derrick Ssemere checked Achema as the forward tried to chest control a high ball.
The man in yellow did not hesitate but point to the penalty spot, a decision bitterly protested by all the visiting team players and officials alike.
In the process, Ssemere was cautioned for the foul and Abdulnoor Kanaana as a result of protesting the decision.
Achema composed himself and expertly shot to Ssebwato’s right.
The goalie rightly guessed to dive towards the direction of the ball but was slower.
After the penalty, there was drama when Bright Stars head coach Fred Kajoba had sprint to toward his players who had crowded the referee in a bid to calm them down.
The goal prompted Kajoba for a double change. On came Joshua Kawadwa and John Kokas Opejo for Seif Batte and skipper Methiodious Jungu respectively.
Achema was well positioned to slot home the second off a great laid ball by Bagoole with 20 minutes to play.
With the game seemingly done and dusted, hard working midfielder Bagoole was rested for Godfrey Buni within the final quarter of an hour to play.
Judging from the reaction of the crowd who accorded him a standing ovation, it was evident Bagoole had a great evening at office.
Bright Stars had a late goal disallowed for offside before the end of the game.
Bul’s would be head coach Frank Video Anyau once again watched the match with the fans in the stands after fans demanded for his blood if he ever seats on the team bench again.
Bright Stars remains 8th with 27 points from 22 games, as Bul displaces Lweza in the 13th place as they can temporarily sigh with relief.
