There are new faces on the Uganda Cranes’ team that will play the Eastern region select side this Sunday.
In absence of Uganda Cranes head coach, Milutin Sredojevic, assistant coach, Moses Basena read the names of 23 players to the media during the press conference held on Wednesday at Mengo.
Three Big League players have been named on the team that will train for two days – Friday and Saturday.
Mbarara City’s goalkeeper Muhammed Ssekebba, Masavu center back Brian Nsubuga and Allan Anguyo (Maroons) are the lucky faces from the second tier league.
URA’s holding midfielder Hudu Mulikyi, Bright Stars’ goalie Nicholas Ssebwato, Shafiq Kagimu (URA), Onduparaka’s Living Kabong are some of the fresh faces on the national side.
Basena sang special praise of the tour that has helped to unearth players such as Faruku Miya to the national team setting.
“This programme has been great in grooming and spotting talent from the regional tours,” Basena noted.
The KCCA and Vipers players have been excluded because of the CAF engagements but shall be involved in the due course.
The team shall train on Friday at Namboole and depart on Saturday morning before training in Kamuli in the evening.
