Friendly matches are confidence building matches not only meant to put right a few hitches and ensure match fitness for players, but also to grant the players confidence ahead of future engagements.

KCCA Football Club has a norm of such test matches prior to key fixtures.

In the run to the preliminary round of their two matches against Angola’s De Agosto, KCCA played several warm up games.

Now, with the return leg against South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns in sight, KCCA have played two warm up games.

First, against Proline on Wednesday as they comfortably won 4-0 and then, against FUFA Big League side Maroons where they struggled a bit, but came top 2-0 at the end of the mid-morning game.

Two second half goals from Joseph Benson Ochaya and Muzamiru Mutyaba ensured KCCA F.C head to Saturday’s match against Mamelodi Sundowns with their heads slightly up.

The opening 45 minutes of the game had ended goal-less with the visitors looking solid at the back marshaled by newly recruited towering center half Allan Anguyo.

Former U-17 star player Pius ‘Iniesta’ Obuya was a thorn in the flesh of KCCA in both halves, testing goalies Benjamin Ochan and Charles Lukwago who were fielded in the first and second stanzas respectively.

Isaac Muleme, a second half substitute for Habibu Kavuma delivered a telling cross from the left that Ochaya headed home past goalie Jamal Maliyamungu for the first goal with 25 minutes to play.

The second goal was a well worked out move involving Muleme, Allan Okello and Muzamiru Mutyaba the final executor off a beautiful curl.

From the basis of either warm up games played on the Phillip Omondi astro turf, it is all evident that the Kasasiroo will plot for an attack minded strategy.

Tom Matisko started in central midfield with the usual suspects, Ivan Ntege and Issac Kirabira, rested.

Ochaya, Paul Musamali offered the timely support to the lead striker Geoffrey Sserunkuma.

KCCA will conduct their final session on Friday morning before facing Mamelodi Sundowns the following day.
