Mamelodi Sundowns manager Pitso Mosimane has confirmed first choice goalie Dennis Onyango will not feature in their match against KCCA at Lugogo this Saturday.

During an interview shortly after arrival at Entebbe International Airport, Mosimane said the Ugandan international will not be fit to play.

Mosimane noted;

Onyango is not ready to play although he traveled with us.

He added: “In South Africa we are playing a game every three days, and if you track back this has been the case for five months for us.

“For us to make an excuse about fatigue is unacceptable. It’s normal. It’s not right, but is normal.We are used to this level of intensity, and we cannot use this as an excuse.

“When we played KCCA in the first leg, they had about seven days rest and were fresh, and it showed. For Saturday’s game they have had another seven days rest. We have had games every three days, and have just come from a league game (against Polokwane City)  on Tuesday evening. But we cannot complain. When you play three games in seven days you can expect casualties”

Mosimane also told the media that his charges are ready to face KCCA at the Phillip Omondi astro turf, Lugogo.

This is Africa, we are used to playing on artificial pitch. It’s not as an excuse either.

We played AS Vita and ES Setif on artificial pitches (in last year’s CAF campaign) so why would we be concerned about the pitch now.

We don’t like it, but at least the ball rolls, and that is the positive we take on the pitch

Onyango also missed the first leg which the Brazilians won 2-1 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium last Friday.

Mamelodi Sundowns arrived on Tuesday evening.
