Jinja Secondary School head teacher, Diana Nyago needs no introduction in Uganda’s football.

The passionate football administrator is among the rare female enthusiasts of the beautiful game in the country.

Nyago, also chairperson of Kirinya- Jinja S.S in the Uganda Premier League believes her school team remains among the favourites to win the much treasured Copa football schools championship.

In an exclusive interview with Kawowo Sports on Thursday, Nyago said Jinja S.S has passed the taste of time and ready to send shock waves to the ‘big wigs’ of schools’ football.

We have prepared adequately for this championship.

My players have also picked worthy lessons from the previous Copa Coca Cola tournaments played over time. This time round, we feel ready to play and win the tournament.

This year’s Copa Championship was officially launched on Wednesday at Namanve in Kampala.

Masaka Secondary School will host the 60 finalists from across the different regions of the country.

The 2017 edition will be the 24th since inception.

District and regional qualifiers kick started last week across the entire country.

A total of over 1700 schools are taking part in the preliminary stage of the tournament.

The games shall kick start on 6th May 2017 and climax after two weeks.

This year’s theme is ‘Join in the Game’ that encourages all stake holders to join collective efforts to build the powerful brand of football as testified by Maggie Kigozi, the communications manager at Century bottling company.

Kibuli S.S is the defending champion of the tournament having in a closely contested final against St Mary’s Kitende in Soroti.
