International Friendly match:
- Sunday, 26th March 2017
- Zambia Vs Zimbabwe – National Stadium, Harare
Every time Zambia takes on Zimbabwe, the clash is mouth watering as well as epic.
The two neighboring countries lock horns once again in the famous ‘Zambezi derby’ on Sunday at the Lusaka National stadium.
This will be the 45th meeting between the two sister countries since Zimbabwe’s Independence in 1980.
Zambia leads the head to head statistics having claimed 16 victories whilst Zimbabwe has won 8 with the other 16 games ending in stalemates.
Last meeting:
In November 2016, the two countries faced off with the Zimbabwe Warriors edging the Chipolopolo 1-0 courtesy of defender Tennage Hadebe’s goal.
Norman Mapeza takes over as Zimbabwe care taker coach following the resignation of Callisto Pasuwa since Zimbabwe’s dismal showing at AFCON 2017.
Veteran goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene, who turns out for the reigning African champions Mamelodi Sundowns is the only foreign based player on the Zambian side.
The others are from local sides, Zanaco, Lusaka Dynamos, Napsa Stars, Nkana, Power Dynamos and Nkhwazi.
The match will be played at the National Sports Stadium at 15:00hours.
