2017 University Football League:

  • Makerere 3-3 Busitema

Busitema University marksman, Tony Musambi became the first player to score thrice in the 2017 season of the University Football League.

On two occasions, the hosts came from down to make amends in a goal laden game played at the Makerere University football ground.

By the collapse of the opening 45 minutes, the visitors led 2-0 courtesy of Musambi.

The halftime talk might have energized the home side since they returned completely a different entity.

Talisman Joshua Lubwama pulled a goal back through a well converted penalty in the 53rd minute following a string of attacks and pressure in the opposition area.

Ten minutes later, the hosts brought the game even with Brian Awmine’s equalizer, a well cheered strike from the passionate crowd.

Albeit the surge from Makerere, Musambi had other thoughts and personal ambitions altogether. He was well positioned to slot home his individual and team’s third goal as they restored the precious lead.

The hosts piled pressure that indeed yielded fruitful dividends when Sam Odong turned scorer although in his own net barely two minutes to the full time whistle.

The equalizer was much celebrated by the home team players, technical bench and fans alike since it was envisaged as a rescue from jaws of an eminent defeat.
