The Motorsport Fraternity has for the last month been left puzzled as to where exactly the venue for the third round of National Rally Championship will be.
The local Motorsports body, the Federation of Motorsports Clubs of Uganda (FMU) has finally issued a statement saying the NRC three will be held in Kayunga District.
The third round of NRC scheduled for April 28-30th will also be organised by FMU.
“Kayunga is the set venue for the third NRC round and will be strictly organised by FMU.
“I can assure you that everything is set, the routes are ready, documentation among others. So how Masaka comes in, I can’t tell,” explained FMU general secretary Joseph Mwangala.
Southern Motor Club had earlier in the season been indicated on the FMU draft calendar as the organisers of the third round, but FMU eventually took over the event.
“We wrote to SMC to clarify on certain issues before they can organise any FMU event again, but they are yet to respond.
“It’s important to note that FMU is the hub for all clubs and has the right over them. So if one club cannot meet the required things for organising a certain event, then FMU will always organise the event instead,” he adds.
“FMU will no longer sit back to be blackmailed by clubs that cannot do things that are required of them, we are gradually trying to rejuvenate all that had gone wrong,” says Mwangala.
Meanwhile, the NRC heads to Kayunga with Duncan Mubiru in lead of the championship at 160 points followed by Ronald Sebuguzi and Omar Mayanja in third.
