Entebbe Zone Copa Football Championship 2017:

  • Final: Boston High 0 (4) – 0 (3) Kisubi Mapeera

Boston High School is the champion of the Entebbe Zone football championship, the Copa Qualifiers.

To achieve the feat, the Mpala based school triumphed 4-3 in spot kicks over Kisubi Mapeera at the Kiwafu playground in Entebbe Division B. Normal time of the well-attended final had ended goal-less.

To reach the final, Boston High had outwitted Entebbe Parents 1-0 in a tense semifinal clash. Salim Muhammed’s own goal condemned Entebbe Parents School which was coached by former Gulu F.C player Patrick Musoni

Kisubi Mapeera required a board room decision to be granted the rights to play in the final after they had lost 1-0 to Kisubi High at the semifinal stage.

Kisubi High was found guilty of having used a repeater to play in the games contrary to the rules and regulations of the tournament.

Winning Coach Hussein Mulawa of Boston High attributed the victory to early preparations and team work from his charges.

We started the preparations very early and it is not surprising that we have won. Also, my team was a complete block.

We have a great chemistry that built a strong bond between all the players.

Mulawa is now geared up for the Wakiso District qualifiers starting next week.

Qualifiers in Wakiso are like national finals but we are ready to cause a shock.

The screening exercise for the players is on this Saturday at the Wakiso District head quarters.

St Mary’s College Kisubi will host the Wakiso qualifiers in the coming days.

Schools such as St Juliana, Buddo S.S, Standard High – Zana and hosts SMACK are assured of taking part in the competitive Wakiso qualifiers.

All the four semi-finalists will play at the national finals that will be hosted by Masaka Secondary School between 6th to 20th May in Masaka.

Kibuli S.S is the defending champion.
