In the pecking order to the Uganda Cranes’ captaincy, goalkeeper Dennis Onyango was number two to striker Geoffrey Massa.
Now that Massa retired last week, it has not been a shocking decision to name Onyango as the new skipper.

Head coach Milutin Sredejovic confirmed the development.
Naturally, after Massa, it was Onyango. He (Dennis Onyango) is the new captain because of his experience and leadership abilities.
Currently with his club Mamelodi Sundowns, Onyango is expected to lead the side in the FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifiers as well as the AFCON 2019 campaign.
He once captained the Cranes during the FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifier against Ghana in Tamale last October.
Hassan Wasswa Mawanda will deputize Onyango.
