Moyo District Football Championships:
Final: Hawa Comprehensive 0 (2) – 0 (0) Bishop Asili (Boys)
Founded three years ago, Hawa Comprehensive Secondary School defied the odds to win their maiden district football title.
Hawa Comprehensive endured a tense moment to win post-match penalties 2-0 after normal time had ended goal-less.
Earlier on, Hawa Comprehensive had edged Itula 2-1 in the semi-finals as Bishop Asili overcame Laropi 3-1 at the same stage.
In the quarter finals, Laropi were 3-0 winners over Lefori, Bishop Asili out muscled Metu 2-0.
Meanwhile, Hawa Comprehensive and Itula had ejected Moyo S.S, St John Dufile 4-0 and 2-0 respectively.
A total of 12 schools took part in the qualifiers.
According to Taban Kamala, a keen football enthusiast and administrator, the games were played in a calm environment.
All the matches from the preliminary stage to the knock out rounds were played successfully. There was no chaos which is an indication that our football is on a positive wave length
Meanwhile in the girl’s event, St Andrews College beat Bishop Asili 2-1 in post match penalties after normal time had failed to produce any scores.
Five schools took part in the girls’ championship. These included champions St Andrews’ College, Moyo S.S, Bishop Asili, Lohwa and Itula S.S.
The successful teams from Moyo will take part in the West Nile regional championship qualifiers.
