When the Kenya 7s team steps onto the pitch in Hong Kong this weekend, they will be without the pair of Willy Ambaka and Dan Sikuta.
The two pulled out of the team on the eleventh hour to leave head coach Innocent Namcos scratching his head ahead of the tournament.
The Kenya team left for Hong Kong on Sunday, April 2 with 11 players and not all the 13 named earlier.
Raga House, an online publication in Kenya, reports that Ambaka has been picked out for a professional contract by a club yet to identified.
Sikuta, on the other hand, cited work commitments for his decision despite being part of earlier preparations.
Both Sikuta and Ambaka have been part of Simiyu’s squad and made the core of the team in the first engagements in Dubai, Cape Town, Sydney, Wellington, Las Vegas and Vancouver 7s.
The duo’s absence leaves Kenya in a depleted side ahead of the Hong Kong and Singapore Sevens.
