University Football League reigning champions Kampala University started their title defense brightly with a comfortable 4-0 win at Bugema University on Sunday.

Steven Mukwala gave the visitors the lead on the quarter hour mark.

Vincent ‘Titie Camara’ Tumusiime’s charges then ran riot in the second half with Moses Buga’s 63rd goal before free dribbling Ibrahim Mugulusi and Abubaker Ssempala added the others in the 77th and 88th minutes respectively.

Coach Tumusiime saluted his team players after the match and vowed to successfully defend the trophy.

The players had a great game and I have appreciated their effort.

We played like an hungry team on a mission. Focus will shift to the next game at hand because we want to defend this title.

Earlier in the week, Nkumba subjected another debutant side St. Lawrence to a 4-0 defeat in Entebbe.
