Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed Kwesi Appiah as the Ghana Black Stars head coach after agreeing terms for a two-year deal.

The 57-year-old former Ghana Black Stars player will assume duties officially on 1st May 2017.

He returns for a second spell having famously guided the Black Stars to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The immediate task at hand to see Ghana make it to the FIFA World Cup finals in Russia come 2018 as well as in the 2019 AFCON finals and the CHAN 2018qualifiers.

Ghana is third behind Uganda Cranes and Egypt Pharaohs in Group E of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with the next home game coming on 28th August 2017 against Congo Brazzaville.

He takes the mantle from Avram Grant who  stepped down following Ghana’s 2-0 loss to eventual winners, Cameroon during the AFCON 2017 Championship at the Franceville arena in Southern Gabon.
