Makerere University makes the short trip across town to face Kampala International University (KIU) as the University Football League continues on Wednesday.
The two institutions in contest will be seeking their first victories following stalemates in their respective season opening games.
KIU held Uganda Christian University to a 1-1 draw in Mukono when the league officially opened two weeks ago.
Isaac Odeke gave the visitors the lead before Muzayifa Barigye cancelled the advantage as the two sides earned a point in the opener.
Makerere on the other hand was held by Busitema 3-3 last week at their own grave yard and seek maximum points away from home.
Joshua Lubwama and Brian Awmine, two of the Makerere scorers in the draw are available alongside Anthony Mayanja for inspiration.
Both sides are coached by former students at the respective institutions. Geofrey ‘Jeff’ Akabwai is at the helm of KIU as Douglas Bamweyana is on the Makerere University technical bench.
The University Football League in the 2017 season has witnessed the increase of teams from 12 to 16.
The league is testament as a breeding ground for talent identification and grooming.
Players as Yassar Mugerwa, now playing professional football in the Ethiopian Premier League with St George is a living example and exhibit of the league.
Back in the days, Mugerwa was a darling at Nkumba University.
Other players are Ibrahim Kazindula (Kirinya – Jinja S.S and KIU), Muzamiru Mutyaba (KCCA and KU), Abel Eturude (SC Villa and KU) and many others are products of the UFL.
