Mbarara based Welden High School will host the 2017 Uganda Muslim Education Association (UMEA) solidarity games.
The chairperson of the games sports committee, Hajji Twahil Kiteezala confirmed the development to Kawowo Sports.
Welden High School in Mbarara will host the 2017 UMEA Games.
We expect over 70 schools that will take part in football, netball, handball and volleyball
The Games are organized for all Muslim founded schools in Uganda.
Welden High school director Yasin Mugabi expressed gratitude for the organizing committee having trusted his school to host such prestigious games.
Mugabi, in an exclusive interview told Kawowo Sports;
It gives us special pride that we shall host the UMEA Games for 2017. We have done all the necessary preparations to see that the games are successfully and peacefully held.
The sports facilities are all in shape with the accommodation amenities all in place to host our visitors.
This is a special moment for the people of Mbarara to host the games.
Like it was at the previous edition held in Masaka, women football will also be played.

The host school will be joined by a series of schools as record winners Kibuli S.S, Kasawo, Kakungulu Memorial, Masaka S.S, Mawogola High, Sseke S.S, Nakatete S.S, Kibenge High, Kikungwe S.S, Kadugala S.S, BK Memorial, Kawempe Muslim S.S, London College, Gombe, Luyanzi College – Bweyogerere, Mbogo Mixed, Kinawa High, Bulo Parents, Kibale S.S, Bwala S.S, Waggwa Memorial, Lukaya, Lutengo, Kawanda S.S, Masaka Islamic Central among others.
In a related development, distant up-country schools from as far as Kasese and Yumbe have also expressed interest.
Football (boys and girls), netball (girls only), volleyball (boys and girls) and handball (boys and girls) are the confirmed games on menu.

Kibuli S.S is the overall defending champion.
