Soana welcome resurgent Proline to Kavumba Recreational ground on Friday looking to secure their first Uganda Premier League win at home in eight months.

The last time Soana triumphed at their backyard was in September last year in their 1-0 victory over league debutants Kirinya-Jinja SSS.

The side has since struggled to post results at home, and their recent home game ended 1-1 against title chasers KCCA. It is no wonder their first win in 2017 came away from home.

After a devastating run of four losses and as many draws that dates back to 6th December, they finally won a game. They managed to beat league strugglers Lweza last Friday to hand Alex Isabirye his first victory as Soana coach while registering their first win since the turn of the year.

Isabirye will be eager to find his first home win as Soana coach on Friday, but while he’ll be hoping for that, Mujib Kasule’s resurgent Proline will look to continue with their renascence in the Premier League.

Kasule and his men have proved things can actually change in the league having witnessed a strong comeback in recent weeks. The tactician has pushed his charges to four wins in eight games to move them up to the eighth position in the league standings.

The club’s fine form began with a convincing and very crucial 3-1 victory over Onduparaka, before they were able to go on and claim victories over URA, JMC and Sadolin Paints, and although losses to Police and Vipers happened along the way, Proline have been able to distance themselves from the relegation dogfight.

What is even more impressive is the club managed to keep four clean sheets in those eight games, something that is intermittent in this Proline side.

The club faithful will look forward to their remaining fixtures with excitement as they face teams placed below them in the league with exception of 2nd placed KCCA and Express who are sixth.

Proline, eighth in the league with 30 points are placed just a place below their day’s opponent on goal difference.
