Two Wakiso giants Buddo Secondary School and Standard High School Zana will clash for one of the available four slots at the national Copa Schools football championship.

This was confirmed after the completion of the group stage matches on Thursday evening.

This implies that only one of the two schools will make it alongside the successful three other sides that will qualify from their quarter-final matches.

Standard High School, Zana lost to Entebbe revelation, Boston High 1-0 at the SMACK playground to finish second on 10 points (behind the Entebbe revelation) in Group A.

Fred Mbaziira scored in the first half of the well cheered game as Boston played defensively to win with a slim 1-0 margin and top the group with 13 points.

Earlier, Daniel Atya netted for Boston High in their 1-0 win against Bilal Islamic.

London College Nansana was held to a goal-less by Bilal to bow out at the group stage.

Buddo on the other hand won 11-0 and 2-0 against two Kisubi entities Mapeera and High respectively.

Against Kisubi Mapeera, Saddam Masereka notched four goals as Peter Mukaaya and John Ssekyaaya scored two goals apiece for Buddo. The other goals for Hamza Lutalo’s coached side came from Goffin Oyirwoth, Hakim Kiwanuka and defender Samuel Kato Nahimana.

The two goals against Kisubi High came from well taken brace by Mark Nsubuga.

Quarterfinal line-up

St Julian will take on St John’s school from Kazo in the opening quarter-final match of the day.

Surprise package, Boston High will follow with a date against Victoria High, Matugga before the mother of all battles when Buddo takes on Standard High school, Zana at 2 p.m

The final quarter-final on the day will see Group C winners St Mary’s Kitende play Group B runners-up Namboole High in the 4 p.m battle.

Only four schools will represent the region at the nationals in Masaka.

Kibuli S.S is the defending champion.
