Mbarara won at home and now looks set in the Mbarara derby

Synergy made a huge stride upon finishing in the playoff slot of the FUFA Big League with a convincing 3-1 win at Sun City in the Rwenzori Group at the Hima Cement playground on Thursday.

The three points in the hot and humid Kasese area coupled with Nyamityobora’s 2-1 loss to Entebbe meant that Synergy attains third place with 37 points as Nyamityobora descends to fourth with 35 points.

Mbarara City ensured they keep the pace to the desired playoff slot with a slim 1-0 home win against visiting Water at the Kakyeka stadium.

Richard Makumbi’s Mbarara City now has 39 points from 21 games as they remain with two tricky games home and away to Nyamityobora in the Mbarara derby and Synergy respectively.

Synergy will also have to host Entebbe in Masaka as Nyamityobora has an away date to Sun City.

Kireka United held already promoted Masavu to a 1-1 draw.

In the Elgon Group, Busia Fisheries closed gap for a playoff slot with a 2-1 home win against Paidha Black Angels. The Eastern Uganda boarder side now has 34 points with a game to play.

They pray Ndejje University (36 points) and Kira United (35) falter in their next two matches as they (Busia Fisheries) get three points
