Buddu football team started early preparations for their title defense of the Airtel Buganda Masaza football championship.

Over the weekend, the Steven Bogere coached side overcame Uganda Premier League side, Express 2-1 at the Masaka Recreational Stadium.

Maida Kutesa and new signing Ivan Sserubiri got the goals for Buddu as they prepare for the 2017 edition.

Rashid Tamale was on target for Express barely hours after their hard fought 1-0 victory in the league past SC Villa at their Mutesa II Wankulukuku fortress.

Last season, Buddu defeated Gomba 2-1 at Nelson Mandela National stadium to lift their first ever Masaza football trophy.

Sserubiri was recruited from Gomba as they among the new faces at the reigning champions who will host their home matches at the Masaka Recreational Stadium.

With the exact kick off date for this year’s Masaza tournament yet to be confirmed, the respective teams have started early planning meetings ahead of the season that will be bankrolled by Airtel Uganda.
