Masavu defeated Airtel Kitara 1-0 in a FUFA Big League match played on Tuesday at the Boma Playground in Hoima.

Joseph Nkabirwa scored his first ever goal for Masavu and became the first Rwenzori Group side to make 50 points this term.

It was also the first win for Masavu and coach Allan Kabonge in particular in Hoima having been held by Boma Young 1-1 in the first leg.

Nkabirwa, often christened ‘Mwenda’ capitalized on a defensive lapse between the Airtel-Kitara defense to score the goal.

In fact, Nkabirwa would have smiled home with a brace had he scored a 64th minute penalty.

It was a formality victory for Masavu having already been promoted to the Uganda Premier League.

They are now on 50 points with a game to spare coming this Saturday against Water at the Katabi Gombolola playground.

With the Rwenzori Group playoff slots sealed by Mbarara City and Synergy, focus will now turn to which positions clubs finish and definitely the relegation battles.

Boma Young pulled out and was relegated. Three more clubs will be relegated in the Rwenzori Group.

In the Elgon group, Maroons is within a point of promotion.

On the relegation part, Moroto United is so far the confirmed club relegated in the Elgon Group.
