Over the next four or so months, City Auditor Sam Bakiika will be in the spotlight for bold reasons that every passionate football fan and sympathizer in Uganda is keen to follow – the FUFA Elections.

For every step undertaken, decision and communication made will matter a lot to the fraternity that goes to polls starting with the grassroots elections on 29th April 2017 before the regional (18th – 20th May), Special Interest Groups that have Referees, Youth, Schools,  Beach Soccer and Women on 5th June 2017.

The red letter day will be on 5th August 2017 in Masindi for the 93rd FUFA Assembly where election of the FUFA President will be top on the agenda.

Bakiika’s mountain of tasks include among others; ensuring a transparent, free and fair electoral process, tranquil environs and witnessing a purely independent election devoid of interference.

During the committee inauguration by the FUFA CEO, Edgar Watson, Bakiika promised and vowed to adhere to professionalism in as far as leading to the best organized elections ever in the history of football.

Yes. We are working together as a committee to ensure transparent, peaceful, free and fair elections. Already, we have moved a bold step ahead when we trained all the polling assistants across the 85  football districts in Uganda.

At first, we ascertained those districts with active running football league.

As we speak, the execrise at the grassroots is underway with the DFA’s. Picking of forms is underway, cross checking of the voters’ register and raising of concerns if any.

The FUFA Electoral Committee was endorsed at the 92nd FUFA General Assembly in Luweero at Nimrod Hotel on 22nd October 2016.

FUFA CEO, Edgar Watson is part and parcel of the committee by virtual of his position as mandate by the FUFA Constitution.

Questions posed by the ‘opposition’ of the timeliness, integrity, open mindedness and working potentiality of the committee will be addressed by Bakiika and company in the next 4 months.

This year’s FUFA Elective Assembly has been confirmed for 6th August 2017 in Masindi with election of the FUFA President the hottest item on the agenda among others.

Incumbent FUFA President Moses Hashim Magogo seeks to extend his term in office and he is the only candidate so far that has openly expressed interest in the top seat.
