Maxime Van Pee attributed his victory in the first round of FIM Africa Central Motocross Challenge to the horde of fans that supported him and Team Uganda at Busiika on Easter Sunday.

The 2016 MX1 Regional Champion edged Kenya’s Ngugi Waweru in a hotly contested battle to win MX1 class. Even falling off the bike twice could not stop Van Pee from gaining a hat-trick of heat wins.

“The last heat was absolutely crazy. It was really a challenge for me but I managed to catch up.

“I am so happy for my performance, thanks to the crowd. I had no energy in the last heat but fans kept me pushing. They motivated me through out and that is how I managed to comeback on top.

“Maybe I would not have made it in the last heat without the fans. I am glad they enjoyed the battle,” explained Van Pee.

Van Pee commended Ngugi for his performance.

“A big respect to Ngugi. He put up a great performance for the fans, they really liked it. And he is so young with such a big talent. I am looking forward to race with him more as it will be for the best of us.”
