Volleyball

Girls:

  • Final: Kinawa High, Mugongo 3-0 Nabisunsa Girls (25-13, 25-05, 25-13)
  • Third Place: Kawempe Muslim 2-1 Mariam High (25-19, 17-25, 25-13)

Boys:

  • Finals: Mbogo Mixed 3-0 Luyanzi College, Bweyogerere (25-19, 25-12, 25-19)
  • Third Place: Welden 3-0 Buziga Islamic (25-08, 25-12, 25-16)

Mbogo Mixed and Kinawa High School, Mugongo continued their dominance in Volleyball at the Uganda Muslim Education Association (UMEA) games.

During the 2017 games held in Mbarara over the Easter holiday, Mbogo Mixed and Kinawa won the boys and girls respective gold medals.

Mbogo Mixed won in straight sets 25-19, 25-12 and 25-19 against Luyanzi to clinch the medal gold medal.

The third place was taken by hosts Welden who overcame Buziga Islamic 3-0 (25-08, 25-12 and 25-19).

Kinawa High School, Mugongo on the other hand was the best in the girls’ volleyball category beating Nabisunsa 3-0 (25-13, 26-05 and 25-13).

Kawempe Muslim took the third place in the girls’ section after winning 2-1 over Mariam High (25-19, 17-25, 25-13).

Volleyball was among the sporting disciplines held at the games. Other sports included football, handball, netball, table tennis and badminton.

Table Tennis and Badminton were played for the first time in the history of the games.

Nyamitanga and Welden schools co-hosted the games only played by institutions with a Muslim founded background.
