A horde of fans made the return of Iringa Rally to the Tanzania National Rally Championship series much more colourful as they filled each stage on day one.

Second round of TNRC, the Mkwawa pure drinking water rally revved off with three stages.

Dharam Pandya posted the fastest time of the day one to take lead of the rally. He covered the the day one’s 48.08km distance in 25minutes, 25seconds.

Gerarld Miller finished second with two seconds behind Pandya.

Randeep Singh goes into day two in third followed by Gurpal Sandhu and Sameer Nadhi in fourth and fifth respectively.

Meanwhile, the Iringa native driver Ahmed Huwel had a bad day in office as he debuted his Ford Fiesta Proto. Huwel suffered mechanical problems that delayed him and received a four minute penalty. The Mkwawa Rally Team crew finished day one in ninth position.

The rally resumes tomorrow with four stages covering a total competitive distance of 101.09 kilometres.
