- As per now, only four Ugandans are in the CAF Champions League stage

Uganda’s first and second choice national team goalkeepers Denis Onyango and Robert Odongkara respectively will face off in the group stages of the CAF Champions League.
This follows a draw held in Cairo, Egypt that pitted Mamelodi Sundowns and Saint – George together in group C of the 2017 Competition.
The group also has DR Congo’s AS Vita and Tunisia’s Esperance, a club which Ugandan legend Jackson ‘Mia Mia’ Mayanja played for in the 90s.
Saint George, Onyango’s former club also has another compatriot in midfielder Yasser Mugerwa.
Elsewhere, El Merriekh of Sudan, home to another Ugandan goalie Jamal Salim will face rivals El Hilal, Tunisia’s Etoile Du Sahel and Mozambique’s Ferroviaro Berra in group A.
Group B has Egyptian side Zamalek, Algeria’s USM Alger, Libya’s Ahli Tripoli and Caps United of Zimbabwe while group Al Ahly (Egypt), Wydad Casablanca (Morocco), Coton Sport (Cameroon) and Zanaco (Zambia).
The first matches in the groups will be played on May 12,2017

Group C: Mamelodi Sundowns (RSA), Esperance (Tunisia), AS Vita Club (DR Congo) and Saint-George (Ethiopia)
Group D: Al Ahly (Egypt), Wydad Casablanca (Morocco), Coton Sport (Cameroon) and Zanaco (Zambia)
