Main Final: Masavu Vs Maroons – 4 p.m

A goal in each half from Peter Ssempagama and Bruno Ochieng propelled Busia Fisheries to a 2-1 home victory over Maroons at the Madibira playground in Busia.

Ssempagama converted in the 38th minute before Ochieng got the second three minutes into the second half.

Maroons pulled a goal back through Sedney Chika eight minutes to full time.

The loss was Maroons’ third in throughout the entire season.

Despite the loss, Maroons had already championed the Elgon Group with 45 points from 22 games.

Asaph Mwebaze’s side was also the best scoring club in the entire season of the Big League with 44 goals scored and 19 goals conceded.

They now await Rwenzori Group winners, Masavu in the final of the Big League that will be played on Sunday, 7th May 2017.

Masavu’s last game of the regular season ended in a 1-1 draw at home to Water.

John ‘Muzeei’ Ssemwanga gave Allan Kabonge’s side the lead in the 25th minute before Isaac Kisujju leveled the matters for the visitors on the stroke of half time.

Relegated clubs:

Despite winning their final Rwenzori Group game on the Thursday, Hope Doves joined Baza Holdings, Entebbe and Boma Young as the  relegated clubs from the FUFA Big League to the third tier (Regional Leagues).

Hope Doves defeated visiting Airtel Kitara 2-0 at the Mutesa II Wankulukuku stadium in Kampala.

The result means that Ian Mutenda’s Hope Doves finish the season with 23 points, seated in 10th place.

On the same day, Baza Holdings and Mbale’s Kataka played to a one all draw at the Kawempe Muslim S.S play ground.

Kataka, who had hours earlier been given three board room points from their failed game with Kireka United survived, finishing 9th with 26 points.
