Ambrose Byona was thrilled by his performance in the 2017 FMU Challenge Rally that took place over the weekend in Busiika and Kayunga.
‘Omunyeto’ along with his co-driver Derrick Lubambula moved steadily to turn their day one sixth position to a third place finish overall. It was their second career podium finish.
“Great event for us… We had a good run on day one despite being wet.
“Day two has been so excellent. We have not damaged our car at all, it’s just the way we brought it and no wonder we managed to get a good position,” said Byona.
With the podium, Byona now anticipates better performances in the remaining four NRC events.
“This has been my second podium finish and I expect more to come this year. I am going to remain in the mix of the top fight and certainly something better will come out it.”
“I had even earlier planned to change the car, but I have realised its not necessary since this one is still doing better and can win me events as well,” he said.
Byona moved to fourth position on the NRC log tying with Omar Mayanja and Fred Wampamba on 100 points.
