Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba were among the 19 crews that survived the FMU Challenge Rally out of 44 cars that started on Saturday.
The Moil Rally Team crew moved up two positions from their day one ninth position to finish seventh overall.
“It has been an exciting event for us. At a certain point we slightly went off the road but managed to get back and continued.
“We had a mechanical free event. The car has been in shape from the start to the end, all we did was to change the tyres and move,” said Nasser.
The Moil Rally Team collected 30 points from Kayunga; their first points of the season after three events.
And are already looking at building on the sublime drive.
“The event has helped us so much during our Pearl preparations. At least we know what to expect in Pearl.
“The routes were so nice; smooth, fast but again tricky. They only need to add in more stages during Pearl,” said Yasin.
But with the exciting rally, there were a few concerns Yasin feels organisers can work on.
“Safety needs to be doubled especially on the FFs. It was so scary seeing fans in the middle of the road.”
“Fans need to be thought about critically since they are likely to be more during Pearl than they have been this weekend,” he stated.
