Time immemorial, it has been witnessed and proven that derby matches world over remain some of the most thrilling albeit a bit unpredictable encounters.

Prior to the Lweza – Express Uganda Premier League match on Tuesday afternoon at the Mutesa II Wankulukuku arena, all signs were eminent of a great tie.

True to the billing, enthusiastic fans watched six goals in total, three braces and two penalties.

Four of these goals belonged to the minnows – Lweza. The Kajjansi based side recovered from a goal down to defeat Express 4-2 on a rain laden day.

Express skipper Ibrahim Saddam Juma connected home Musa Mukasa’s delivery on 12 minutes.

Tried and tested midfielder Owen Kasule made amends 12 minutes later with a well converted penalty and he was again on the mark at the stroke of half time as Lweza took command of the game.

Juma Balinya made sure the Oranje Boys are safe with the third goal on 54 minutes before putting the game to bed 10 minutes later.

Ten minutes to full time, Saddam scored the second for Express, converting a penalty after Allan Kyambadde had been felled in the forbidden area to make it 4-2.

The defeat is arguably the heaviest for the Red Eagles at home in as many years but only resurrects Lweza’s desperate fight against relegation.

For the maximum points earned from the derby, Lweza jumps three places from 15th to 12th as they ascend to 28 points from27 games.

Express suffers their second consecutive home loss at the once intimidating Wankulukuku Stadium and thus remains 5th with 40 points having played 26 games.
