Masaka SS and Olila SS have blitzed through the group stages to make the semifinals of the ongoing Girls Cricket Week.

The first games of the Girls Cricket Week were affected by the weekend rains with all games washed out on Sunday morning.

However when action got  underway, Masaka SS under the tutelage of Yusuf Nanga, threw down the marker picking up wins against former giants Gayaza High School and Olila High Schoool.

National team protege Immaculate Nakisuyi has been devastating with bat in hand ably supported by U19 national team star Esther Baluka with the ball.

Joyce Mary Apio can never miss the limelight as she has fought had to help Olila High School make the semis for the second year in a row. Despite losing to group toppers Masaka SS, Olila managed to beat Mukono Parents and St James from Jinja.

Kololo SS and Jinja should be the other 2 teams to join Olila High School and Masaka SS into the semis. Kololo was dominated in a group with new comers Mt Rwenzori SS, Ndejje SS, Light SS and defending champions Jinja SS.

Action will conclude tomorrow with the semis in the morning and finals tomorrow afternoon in Lugogo.

Denis has represented Uganda in international cricket events including the World Cup. He is currently the captain of Wanderers Cricket Club.
