
Wanderers managed to get the monkey of its back over the weekend by beating Tornado at the lakeside oval in Entebbe.
In what used to be a fierce derby in back in the day, Wanderers beat arch rivals Tornado B by 8 wickets.
In a game affected by rain, only 30 overs could be played on the day and Wanderers won the toss and elected to bowl first. John Ilukor was in devastating form with the ball picking up 5/8 in 5 overs with Gandi Geoffrey picking up 3/20 limiting Tornado to 55 all out.
Wanderers were troubled by the early loss of opener Saul Kisikwe and the returning Edgar Byansi early but Captain Denis Musali (17) and Adonia Waibale (18) managed to survive the Tornado bowling attack to easily win by 8 wickets.
In the only other league match on Sunday, Avengers beat JACC in Jinja in a Division 3 encounter. In their first game of the season, Avengers scored 194/8 in 40 overs with JACC managing 131 all out giving Avengers a 63 run victory.
