Uganda Cranes head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic admitted having sleepless nights in the run to the opening match of the AFCON 2019 qualifiers against Cape Verde.

Micho made the revelation during the release of the road map for the national team to the game.

Giving due credit to the FUFA Big League and the Uganda Premier League, Micho hinted on the competitiveness of the domestic competitions that have helped sharpen the players.

He appreciated KCCA’s progress to the group stage of the CAF Confederation cup and wished the history making club fruitful deliberations in their up coming campaigns.

We are taking the match against Cape Verde very seriously. Cape Verde has been unpredictable especially on the astro turf in Praia.

Me and the technical team are having sleepless nights as we plan for the game. The good thing though, we are focused towards the game as we have planned well

The team will officially start non residential training on the 20th to 26th May 2017. This will culminate into the regional tour in Fort Portal on 27th May 2017.

After Fort Portal, residential training will take effect before the team shall fly out to Addis Ababa for an international friendly match against Ethiopia on the 3rd June 2017.

Three days later, the team shall fly to Dakar for a high profile friendly against Senegal before the Group L AFCON 2019 qualifier.

Micho noted that he respects the Cape Verde team but his team shall be ready to encounter them and work for the desirable results.

Foreign based players:

He revealed that 18 air tickets have been already dispatched to 18 foreign based players (names not yet revealed) basing on current form.

We have already sent invitations to 18 foreign based players who will fly in after their last league matches. This is not a guarantee that they players will all be fielded. We are putting into consideration current form.

Uganda and Cape Verde are joined by Tanzania and Lesotho to complete Group L.

Only the group leader will make the grade to the AFCON finals in 2019 that will be staged in Cameroon.

20th – 26th May 2017 – Non residential training (Venue to be confirmed)

27th May 2017 – Uganda Cranes Regional Tour (Fort Portal)

28th – 31st May 2017 – Residential Training

3rd June 2017 – International friendly against Ethiopia (Addis Ababa)

6th June 2017 – International Friendly against Senegal (Dakar)

9th – 11th June 2017 – AFCON 2019 Qualifier against Cape Verde
