Mbarara City recovered from a goal down to win their FUFA Big League playoff match 5-3 in post match penalties against Ndejje University at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Thursday.

During a sunny encounter also watched by Uganda Cranes head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic, Ndejje University, the remaining pioneer side of the FUFA Big League took the lead after 28 minutes through Bernard Katetemera.

By the half time whistle, the Luwero based club was still in command as the two sides returned to the locker-rooms for the mandatory rest.

With the minutes fast trickling down, Brian Aheebwa found the equalizer inside the final quarter of the game to force the game to post match penalties.

The Mbarara side took the lead and never looked back winning 5-3 at the end of the day.

Mbarara City players celebrated wildly after the tense shootout as their side progressed to play in Sunday’s final against Synergy who overcame Kira United 3-1.

Now, Mbarara City and Synergy will fight for the available slot to determine who joins Masavu and Maroons who are already promoted.
