Soana Junior Team outwitted KCCA Soccer Academy to lift the 2016/17 FUFA Juniors League trophy.

Jimmy Kintu’s coached side required a tense 4-2 penalty shootout victory on a slippery Kakindu Stadium turf on Friday evening.

Normal time of this exciting encounter had ended in a goalless stalemate with KCCA missing the golden chance when captain Francis Jurua blasted wide a penalty three minutes to the 90th minute mark.

At this time, the Jinja crowd nearly turned violent protesting the penalty decision but security was alert to thwart the tense situation.

Ivan Ssekide, Wilber Kabwama, Solomon Maiso and Emma Kizza were on target for Soana Junior Team in the tense shootout.

Ivan Eriga and Denis Kato scored KCCA Soccer Academy’s opening two goals.

Captain Jurua again faltered before star striker Sadat Anaku missed the other following fine saves by the goalkeeper Sulaiman Kimbugwe who had been an outfield player during normal play but went to the goal posts in the shoot outs.

Anaku finished as the overall top scorer with 29 goals.
