Copa football defending champions Kibuli S.S started their title defence on a strong note winning 6-1 against Soroti Municipality on the opening day.

Muhammed Aliro had a brace, KCCA midfielders Allan Okello and Julius Poloto had one apiece before Adam Musisi, Collin Onega completed the rout.

St. Mary’s Kitende also smiled with an emphatic 5-0 victory past Lira’s Comboni College. Vipers forward Pius ‘Muzeei’ Wangi was among the scorers on the day. Others were Kenneth Kasozi, Kalumba (2) and Katabalwa.

Former KCCA U-17 star player Daniel Mugwanya was on target for Amus College in their slim 1-0 victory past Mbale representative, Nkooma.

Hosts Masaka S.S was held to a 2-2 draw by Welden S.S from Mbarara.

Orthodox albeit fast paced center forward Gerald ‘Mwenda’ Ogwette, formerly at Blessed Sacrament Kimanya scored a brace for Yasin Mugabi’s Welden.

Other games, coach Kiwanuka Namaleego’s Nakaseke International were 3-0 victors over Kampala school Caltec Academy, Old Kampala defeated Blessed Sacrament Kimanya and Citizen High from Mbarara edged Dynamic S.S from Mukono with South Sudanese goal poacher Makweth Wol on target for Citizens.

Panyandoli S.S outwitted Entebbe representatives Boston High, Mpala.

Two day resumed on Tuesday. The tournament will climax on 20th May 2017 at the Masaka Recreational Stadium.
