Express FC Nigerian defender Vincent Onyebuchi has suffered a horrific leg break in the Uganda Premier League clash against Proline.

The Red Eagles’ shirt 5 went down after he was stepped on by his teammate, goalkeeper Fahad Katongole in the lead up to the visitors’ second goal at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku on Tuesday.

Onyebuchi slipped on a heavy pitch as he moved to clear the ball from the right and then a stumble by his goalkeeper saw him go flat on his back two minutes after the break and though it didn’t look bad, it was immediately apparent that the Nigerian had broken his left leg.

The stumble from the goalie and the heavy pitch seems to have caused the break as he made contact with Onyebuchi’s ankle.

The severity of the injury only became apparent when players from either side who were near held their heads in disbelief and the centre referee Ali Kaddu immediately called the medical team.

Seconds later, all the technical staff rushed to the scene and after receiving first aid, he was rushed to hospital albeit in a Toyota Prado as there was no ambulance at the stadium.

The Nigerian, who joined the club in the January window, is expected to be out for a long period time.

At Kawowo Sports, we wish him a Quick Recovery!
