Two second half goals from the spot were enough for KCCA to beat Lweza at Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo as they won the 2016-17 season with two games to end the season.

Following a goalless first half that saw both side cancel out each other, the hosts won a penalty in the 60th minute which was coolly converted by the day’s captain, Tom Masiko.

Eighteen minutes later, the league’s leading marksman Geoffrey Sserunkuma scored his 20th of the campaign after a foul on Derrick Nsibambi in the area.

The game was all but over for the visitors but there was more drama in stoppage time when defender Timothy Awany was sent off for a second bookable offence.

But not many cared as the Kasasiro, now on same number of games with second placed SC Villa moved to 60 points, eight more than their closest rivals with only six points to fight for.

As the Kasasiro joyed, the visitors were lowered into the drop zone and remains on 28 points and must collect maximum points in their remaining fixtures to stay in the division.

KCCA’s title is number 12 and are now four short of record league champions SC Villa.

Mike Mutebi’s charges now turn to focus to the CAF Confederation Cup but still have an away game against Proline and Sadolin Paints at home to complete season.
