Before the Rugby Cranes team travelled to Kakamega for the series with Kabras Sugar, assistant coach Robert Sseguya made it clear that there would be no soft landers on his final team.
He has now started walking the talk. On Monday, he dropped 17 players from the team and is set to drop more later this month.
“They are now 44 and I have the final selection of players to stay with me up to the end,” Sseguya told Kawowo Sports on Tuesday morning.
Of the 44 players left, Sseguya only needs 33 and will drop 11 on May 20 after the team’s final trial game.
“There will be a game played for this cause (selection),” the tactician revealed.
“The following 40 players must attend training without fail and also endeavor to give their best during training,” a communication from the selection team to the players revealed.
The selection team will assess the players considering physical fitness, strength, execution of plays and ability to play and value team goals.
After the final selection, the team will continue with the routine sessions as no residential training in planned ahead of the international games.
