With about one month left until the Uganda Rugby Cranes take to the field for their first international engagement, assistant coach Robert Sseguya has cut off some players to concentrate on a few.

In a communiqué sent out to the players on Monday, Sseguya asked 17 players to stop attending the national team sessions and wait for next year.

“To the following players, the Technical Committee appreciates the time and effort you have put in but the general consensus is that you still need more time and work on the few areas the coaches kept on pointing out to you throughout the sessions and however much we wanted to continue with you, we are constrained by numbers and the high competition for them and hope to see you next year…” read part of the communication sent to the players.

Rhinos winger Daudi Ssemwami is yet again one of those dropped from the team with Justin Kimono returning to the side.

The national team selection committee also had some words of encouragement for the dropped group of players.

“Remember to keep training and also go to the gym. For those whose positions need more body weight and strength, please work on it too if you hope to play at international level. For some, please work on your levels of commitment…”

The Rugby Cranes return to training on Tuesday at Legends Rugby Club.

Dropped Players: David Agassi, Robert Masendi, Kenneth Okongo, Daudi Semwami, Alema Ruhweza, Ivan Wavamuno, Haruna Muhammed, Simon Olet, Kevin Kermundu, Simon Makumbi, Anthony Musimenta, Benedict Misagga, Jude Juuko, Joseph Oyet, Jerome Buyonga, Stallone Arinaitwe, Nathan Bwambale.
