In memory of the good deeds the late Samson Muwanguzi (owner of Lido Beach in Entebbe), Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) in conjunction with the Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) have initiated an annual beach soccer tournament.

18 clubs have confirmed to take part in the day long gala format Muwanguzi Memorial Cup slated for this Sunday.

The tournament was launched on Wednesday at FUFA House in Kampala with the draws for the fixtures held.

UBSA chairman Deo Mutabazi, as quoted by the FUFA website appreciated the role by Muwanguzi in the development of sports in Uganda particularly Beach Soccer and thus a memorial tournament in his name.

Muwanguzi was committed to the development of the sport.

From scratch to where we are right now, Muwanguzi played an important role towards the growth of beach soccer in Uganda.
