Kenya Simbas head coach has named a 29-man squad to travel for a 10-day camp in South Africa ahead of the team’s international season that kicks off June 10 in Kampala.

The Simbas will leave for South Africa on Friday and team manager Simiyu Wangila revealed the travelling contingent on Thursday at the RFUEA grounds.

The named squad is set to depart in the wee of Friday for training at the Western Cape Sports Academy and has 29 of the 36 players players in line for the hefty series of fixtures.

KCB flanker Davis Chenge will captain the team on tour as captain with Biko Adema of Nondies as his assistant.

“We are going to fine tune the team and work on some areas we need to rectify. Especially in the set pieces, in the scrummaging then our centres need to work on the strength and conditioning program down there,” Wangila told Kenyan media on Thursday.

“We have looked at what Germany is all about, we are going to have one game against Durbell RFC that is equally strong and it will give us a good run for our systems that we’ve been training in. When we land back on 21st we have no time because the following weekend we have Germany,” Wangila added.

Wilson Kopondo was confirmed as the overall Simbas captain for the season while Darwin Mukidza will take the assistant role.

The two will both miss the South Africa tour because of work commitment and the Paris and London Sevens respectively.

Aside from Kopondo and Mukidza Oliver (KCB) Benjamin Marshall (Nondies) and Steve Otieno (Homeboyz) will also miss the trip.
