Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has handled two Ugandans special duties during the 12th Total U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

The appointed officials are Edgar Watson, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Communications Director, Ahmed Hussein.

Watson has been assigned under the Technical Study Group for the tournament whilst Hussein is under the Media Department.

Whereas Hussein left the country in the wee hours of Wednesday night, Watson will connect straight from Bahrain after attending the 67th FIFA Congress in Manama City on Thursday.

A visibly excited Hussein disclosed to Kawowo Sports on Tuesday that the opportunity to represent Uganda at the championship will present key learning bench marks for the country.

Hussein who was also the official media officer for Uganda Cranes at the AFCON finals in January and February this year noted;

There are so many things that we learn at international tournaments and I hope to apply the experience to the best way forward for the betterment and growth of football in Uganda.

Watson is no stranger to the technical study group tasks assigned. He has previously served in the same role at the CHAN 2016 in Rwanda and U-20 championship that took place in Zambia this very year.

The 12th edition of the Total U-17 Africa Cup of Nations Gabon 2017 will get underway on Sunday, 14th May 2017 and climax on 28th May 2017.

Host country Gabon is pooled in Group A alongside Guinea, Cameroon and Ghana are the other countries.

Group B has CECAFA representatives Tanzania, Angola, Niger and Mali.

All the semi-finalists will qualify to represent Africa at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in India from 6th to 28th October, 2017.
