KCCA began their continental group adventure on a losing note as they were humbled 3-0 by FUS Rabat of Morocco at Complexe Sportif Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan

The reigning Ugandan champions who dropped to the competition after falling to champions Mamelodi Sundowns went down as early eight minutes thanks to Brahim El Bahri opener.

The visitors survived a series of constant attacks from the hosts but with two minutes to the break conceded a second when Yusupha O M Njie caught the defence napping to double the former finalists’ lead.

Five minutes after recess, Mike Mutebi made his first change of the game replacing winger Brian Majwega with defensive midfielder Ivan Ntege.

It took KCCA until the 73rd minute to register a shot on target when Isaac Muleme’s attempt from a free kick was saved by FUS Rabat goalie Aymane Majid for a corner which they also defended well.

And the hosts remained in charge as they pressed for more goals and their effort paid off with ten minutes to time when Karim Benairif made it 3-0 after getting at the end of Yusupha O M Njie defence splitting pass.

The score line remained at 3-0 by the time Ivorian officials brought the game to an end an implication that the Moroccans lead Group A at the moment.

The other opponents in the group, Club Africain (Tunisia) take on Nigeria’s Rivers United in the other game later on Sunday.

No Saddam Juma

Without four of its starters in goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan, defender and captain Denis Okot Oola plus midfielders Paul Mucureezi and Muzamiru Mutyaba, KCCA were dealt a blow as new signing Ibrahim Saddam Juma also didn’t feature and wasn’t among the substitutes.

Although no reason has been advanced so far for his absence, its reported that he had no license to feature for the Kasasiro as per game time.

Club Africain next

KCCA’s next game will at home against Tunisia’s Club Africain on Wednesday May 24, 2017 at Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.
