Hosts Masaka Secondary School recovered from a goal down to defeat favourites Buddo S.S and booked a quarterfinal berth in the Copa Schools’ football championship.
Buddo took the lead through sharp striker Saddam Masereka in the 25th minute against the run of play after a series of wasted chances by the host school at a fully pack Arena playground in Kitovu.
Jibril Nsiimbe, Jacob Okao and Frank ‘Walcot’ Iga well earlier culprits for Masaka S.S before Masereka’s goal.

First half ended with Buddo in command.
17 minutes into the second stanza of the game, Okao restored parity following a telling free-kick that was at first saved by goalie Tony Kyamera and the defence hesitated to clear the ball to safety.
The game produced no further goals as referee William ‘Engineer’ Oloya called for full time.
In the tense shoot out, Masaka won 3-2 with either sides missing a number of penalties.
Nsimbe who had been wasteful in normal play turned into the hero as he saved four kicks from the penalty spot by Buddo’s Simon Katumba, Francis Enku, Simon Kato Ssemayangu and Stephen Anguzo.
John Ssekyaaya and former U-17 defender Kato Samuel converted their efforts.
Whereas Masaka’s Yiga, Donato Okello and Shaban Wasswa also missed, Okao, Sempala, and Benson Muhindo converted for Simon Mugerwa’s side.
Masaka thus booked their berth in the quarter finals.

Meanwhile, defending champions Kibuli also needed a 3-1 post match penalty victory over Buhobe after normal time had ended goalless at the Masaka Recreational stadium.
Pius Wangi and Frank ‘Zagga’ Tumwesigye scored two first half goals to guide St Mary’s Kitende to a 2-0 win against St Joseph Layibi.
The quarter finals will be played on Thursday with the semi-finals and grand climax coming on the subsequent days.
