Uganda Cranes regional tours 2017:

Sharp striker Beckham Musoki is among the 20 man squad released by the Kitara region Football Association ahead of the Uganda Cranes on 28th May 2017 in Fort Portal.

The Bundibunjo based striker will fight for the slot on the team that also has players from established clubs in the region as Sun City, Airtel Kitara and Kasese New Villa.

Tried and test Sun City defender Patrick Kusemererwa, Airtel Kitara skipper Timothy Kato and Fort Portal based center forward Job Talemwa, who features for regional side Create Peace are some of the key pillars on the team.

The players summoned are expected to report in Fort Portal by Wednesday 24th May 2017 (latest 1pm) for training.

Third tour of the year:

This will be Uganda Cranes’ third tour of the year, having visited Eastern region in Kamuli and West Nile (Paidha) where they won 3-1 and lost 1-0 respectively.

During the last visit of the Kitara region in Masindi on 18th September 2016, Uganda Cranes won with ease 6-0.

Julius Ntambi, Robert Sentongo (2), Ambrose Kirya, Muzamiru Mutyaba and Frank Kalanda scoring in the goal galore.

The match in Masindi had been followed by successful trips in the Western (1-0), North East (2-0) and Northern (5-0).

Other local tours:

Uganda Cranes has lost 1-0 in West Nile (Arua), drawn 1-1 in the East (Mbale) and twice in Buganda (3-0 apiece in Masaka and 4-1 Nakasongola during a charity cause outing).

Significance of tour:

The Kitara tour shall be preparing the team ahead of the June 3rd international build up against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa that will culminate into the June 6th friendly against Senegal in Dakar.

All these international friendly matches are meant to give the national team a perfect test in the run to the opening group L AFCON 2017 qualifier away to Cape Verde in Praia.

Uganda Cranes main sponsors Airtel Uganda fuel the regional tours.

These local tours are also meant to take the national team brand closer to local communities and inspire many young footballers.

Strikers: Beckham Musoki (Bumate), Ronald Okello (Kasokwa), Job Talemwa (Create Peace Academy), Sylvester Mumbere (New Villa)
