Adam Essa Rauf is all excited about his return to the cockpit after nearly eleven months of absence.
He will be making his return in Fort Portal rally; the fourth round of the National Rally Championship due on 26-28th May.
He will partner with Ali Katumba in a 2015 champion car; Subaru Impreza now owned by Yasin Nasser.
“I had always known that I would come back to rally. Rally is my heart. My everything. Nothing more loyal to me than rally, so I had to come back in whichever way.
“It has broken my heart at times but it’s picked me up so well most of the times. So it always feels good to be back,” said Rauf.
Rauf finished on podium in third position in the same event last year. He returns to Fort Portal in the same spirit to either maintain his last year’s position or better it.
“Yes, I am definitely going for a top position. My target is not to exceed my last year’s position. So it’s either first or second position.
“I believe I still have the pace, but I will judge myself by the first two sections of the day in Fort Portal.”
Rauf further admits that his participation this weekend will prepare him for the upcoming Pearl rally next month.
“My target from Fort Portal is the Pearl rally. I realized I had to warm up before I go for it. It has been a longtime, so we decided to for it.
“I hope to have a new car by Pearl. And its most likely to be the Evo X. So I had to make my flexes fit ahead of the big battle.
“I will not do any other event this season after Pearl. Am getting married soon so I might not spare time for other events, but am doing full season next year,” he said.
